Abstract: to examine the effects of low and variable water conditions on plant biomass, root to shoot ratio, chlorophyllfluorescence, gas exchange and spectral features in leaves of maize (Zea mays cv.the low and variable water conditions, plant growth was inhibited, however, the root to shoot ratio, chlorophyllfluorescence, gas exchange and spectral properties were similar to the controls.

Abstract: We have found that 1–10 mg·L of Cd and 1–5 mg·L of Pb induced continuous enhancement of chlorophyllfluorescence during 24 h of incubation.No significant degradation of chlorophyll was observed in these samples.At higher concentrations of 20 mg·L of Cd and 10–20 mg·L of Pb chlorophyll level significantly decreasedand its fluorescence was quenched.
